I woke up and ran this morning before work! I can’t even remember the last time I did that. Things are going pretty swimmingly so far in 2014. I know a lot of people hate January, but I always have my birthday to look forward to this month. After that, I’m done with winter.
I considered writing a whole post dedicated to 2014 goals, but I don’t have many so it seemed pointless. I have specific time goals for every race distance that I would love to achieve, some more important than others, but those are things I’m constantly striving for and they will always be goals until I meet them. I listed my time related goals here, since none of them were achieved last year, they remain the same.
Other things I want to do in 2014? Run the NYC Marathon and do whatever makes me happy. I just want to have a strong and injury free year of running and I’m going to work on making that happen. Major goal of 2014 = Work hard in both running and life.
Monday kicked off training for my first goal race of the year; the B&A Trail Half Marathon in Severna Park, MD. I am doing 12 weeks of training and I’m super excited to start with a better and faster base than when I started training for Rehoboth this past September. I’m still being super careful building my mileage and I’m excited to see what I can do this time around. This will be my first shot at going sub 1:50 this Spring.
I don’t plan on recapping my training weekly, like I’ve done in the past. I’ll be sure to update every few weeks though, I got sort of bored writing about it every single week, I would much rather write a solid post about the runs that stick out to me during training.
On a different note, my husband and I just adopted 2 of the most adorable kittens in the world! We are technically fostering to adopt, since we can’t legally adopt them until they are both fixed, but we’re working on it.
Please welcome Fry and Ellie to our family!
How freaking cute are they?! Fry is the orange cat, he is about 2 months old, and Ellie, the tiger cat is about 3 months. This is the first time I’ve ever had kittens and I freaking love them so much. I don’t know how I’m going to get anything done at all. Ever.
They are an early birthday gift from my husband. Best birthday gift ever! Little Ellie is schedule to be spayed next Wednesday, while Fry needs to gain a little more weight before he can be neutered. They were both strays and we got them from a rescue shelter called K9Kastle, check them out if you’re looking for a pet, they are a great organization that I can’t support enough.
Fry is named after Futurama and Ellie is named after Jurassic Park. It took us a while to think of Ellie’s name, but Fry had his name picked out long ago. I’ve always wanted an orange cat and after Leela passed, we knew we wanted to keep the Futurama tradition alive (even though she wasn’t originally named after that).
I’m running the Joe Kleinerman 10k tomorrow in Central Park with a bunch of friends. I’m not racing, but I’m hoping to pace this girl to a sub-60 finish! Then we are off to brunch to celebrate my birthday, which isn’t till Monday.
Have a great weekend!
