I went to see this great band, Beardfish last night in Dunnellen, NJ. We took the train there and back, I woke up tired, slightly hungover, and left for work unshowered, but it was all so worth it.
Beardfish is a prog rock band from Sweden and they rarely play in the US, but luckily this was our 2nd time seeing them. They played last year as well at a place called Roxy and Duke’s, which is basically a bar with a great stage inside. It was an intimate, and small place and the show was incredible. It was one of those moments where I just said to myself; I love my life.
I know many people haven’t heard of them, but give them a listen, below is one of my absolute favorites. Just close your eyes and absorb it!
Monday: The Core + 40 lunges, 40 calf raises, & 10 min. ab work
Tuesday: 4 mile Tempo
- 1 mile w/u
- 1 mi. c/d
I was discouraged by this run immediately, my foot was acting up a bit again and I wasn’t sure why. No pain, just a weird dull sensation, is this supposed to happen after having a stress fracture? Not worried or freaking out, but planning on solely cross training tomorrow instead of a 2 mile run.
Anyway, I could not get that first Tempo mile any faster, I felt like a failure after that 1st mile and wanted to just give up. The beginning of mile 2 started out at like a 10 pace, wft, then I stopped at a traffic light, which I know is cheating, but what can you do? That little break changed everything though and I ended up busting out an 8:28 mile…so that was awesome. And my cool down mile wasn’t nearly as miserable as last week’s! Progress? :/
Wednesday: 10 miles/40 min. on the stationary bike + Upper Body ST & some work on the Adductor/Abductor machine
Thursday: Easy 6 mile Progression
On the treadmill
Saturday: 10 miles, 9:39 avg. (what?!)
Sunday: 4 recovery miles
Total: 24 miles
I have to keep reminding myself that I’m not training for a marathon! I keep thinking that I’m not doing enough, that I need to be running longer and/or more overall mileage every week. I originally had 12 on my schedule for my long run, but there’s no need to jump up like that. I’m only 3 miles away from a half marathon and I still have 8 weeks left to train.
This week left me feeling like my old self. I am starting to see some familiar paces and gaining more confidence. I’m still looking forward to nailing a Tempo run because right now, they are the worst.
Congratulations to everyone who raced over the weekend! To say I have race envy is a huge understatement!
