An Icy Run and A New Job!

I woke up bright and early this morning at 6:45 in order to run with my room mate. I had everything laid out for me so I wouldn’t have to search for things in the dark while Derek was sleeping. I ate half a clif bar and drank some water before heading out the door. The roads / sidewalks were still in pretty bad shape from the snow storm on Wednesday. There was a lot of ice on the sidewalks and it was kind of scary to be out running on them. I had a 6 mile tempo run planned for today, but due to the weather I knew I needed to take it real easy in order to be safe. I had to trudge through some snow and avoid ice patches so I knew there was no way I would be hitting my 9 min/mile marks.

My room mate always takes off when we run together and he listens to his iPod the whole time too so I don’t really understand why he asks me to run with him. I don’t ever mind because I am used to running on my own anyway, but he confuses me. My run was definitely a slow one!  Here are my stats:

  • Distance: 6.5 Miles
  • Duration: 64:45
  • Pace: 9:57
  • Calories Burned: 666

I have an 11 miler planned for tomorrow in Central Park. I’m really excited for it because it will be my longest distance to date!

I went to an interview this morning at 11am and no time was wasted because I got the job! I am very happy to know right away and to not have to go home and wait for days or even weeks. It’s a transcribing job at a Film / TV company. They produce Dog the Bounty Hunter and a show called Parking Wars. I’m really excited! It’s going to be pretty easy I think and probably boring, but hey it’s something! I’m definitely happy that I have a job within a film/TV company because everyone has to start somewhere. No, I don’t want to be a transcriber forever, but I will move up once I prove my worthiness. I start next Wednesday and my hours are 10-6 so I will still be able to run! It’s a Monday thru Friday job and I will be getting paid a pretty good amount in my opinion. Soooo happy! :)

I will be working in Union Square which means I can shop at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods ALL THE TIME! Woo Hoo! There is also a lot of other good stuff around there so I will be exploring. I stopped at Whole Foods on my way home and I think it was my first REAL time in there. I am already obsessed and figured I could splurge a little since I just got a job!

Thanks you Cory for putting in a good word for me, I owe you one!
