A Much Needed Vacation to Squam Lake

July 21, 2010 By: Stephanie Category: food, swimming

So, my car is still not fixed! I got it back from the shop in CT and there are now 2 more problems with it. So, last week the boyfriend and I took a bus trip home instead of driving. We left early on Thursday Morning and ended up getting to the lake around 3pm. I wished we had more time there because it was so nice, but I was definitely glad to have a nice little vacation for a couple of days.

We went tubing, I got a tan, and I ate A LOT! But, what else is new right? I also, as previously stated, ran my first pain free run! I also got to run with my sister, which was awesome! I’m so happy my sister is getting into running and she is loving it! She is doing the C25K program and is doing awesome! She is signed up for the Cigna 5K Race in August and I’m sure she is going to kick ass.

I finally got to consume the best steak and cheese in the world! I have been waiting for one of these subs for a long time, this is what NYC is missing! A delicious steak and cheese from Nadeau’s in New Hampshire. Mmmmmmmmmm, so good!

My family has been going to this cottage for the past 3 years so it’s something nice to look forward to. Next year there is a possibility that the trip will be moved to a bigger palce on Lake Winnipesaukee. Before I get to the fun pictures, from my trip, I must point out the fact that my family had 6 laptops and and iPad at the lake. It was a little crazy, but definitely funny that we all cannot go without our computers.

This was up until Saturday morning, I will have to recap the rest of the weekend in another post. But, yes I brought Magnolia cupcakes up for everyone and they got devoured fast! Also, check out this ridiculous painting that was hanging in our cottage, haha.

I tried to do as much swimming as I could. I definitely think I got some good exercise in and it was nice to actually swim in a lake and not a pool.

Does your family re-visit vacation spots? Where do you go yearly?

Training

May 28, 2009 By: admin Category: swimming, training, triathlon

So, I did my first swim today as part of my training. It took more out of me than I thought it would. I was completely out of breath after 5 laps. I figured out that 9 complete laps will equal the .25 mile distance for my triathlon. I think I can do it! I absolutely loved swimming today, it felt really good and I’m excited to do it more often. I’m going to aim to get at least 3 swims in every week. I swam for 20 minutes today and I’m going for another 20 tomorrow. I am going to look up some proper swim techniques tonight when I get home from work. I want to make sure I swim as efficiently as possible. I’m so excited to be training, I feel really focused and ready to take on the next 6 weeks. All I need to do now is get a bike helmet so I can go for my first real bike ride on Sunday morning. After this week I am going to cut back on my running slightly in order to fit all of this other training in.

Okay, gotta get back to work…
