What are my goals for 2011?

That’s a good question. I’ve been thinking about them since the beginning of December and they are constantly changing. 2010 was a fabulous running year for me and while I obviously want to continue with my running in 2011, I’m going to step down a little with my actual running goals for this year.

Derek and I are getting married in 9 months and I really want to focus on stabilizing my career.

But, before we look forward, me must look back. Did I achieve my goals that I set for last year? Yes and no. If you want to get down to it, I actually only completed 1 of 4 running goals.

Here are the goals I listed for 2010:

FITNESS:

  1. Run 750+ Miles – Err….this one kind of kills me because I was so close, I ran 724 Miles.
  2. Run 2 Half Marathons – Complete! I ran the NYC Half Marathon in March and the Bronx Half in August.
  3. Do 30 push ups at once – Didn’t try too hard to complete this one, but I did have a good streak of doing push ups while I was at work. I think I got to 18 at one point.
  4. Complete 12 Races – So close! I ran 11 races this year and I am damn proud of every one of them!

CAREER/LIFE

  1. Have a job that I love – Mostly.
  2. Start Planning My Wedding : ) – Yes!
  3. Make 12 recipes from ‘Mastering the art of French Cooking’ – FAIL…I made one.
  4. Be Happy and Stress Free – I am happy, but we all know 2010 was pretty freakin stressful, but I am still sane and that’s all that matters.

There’s something that’s not on that list. That’s right…I ran a marathon 3 years sooner than I ever expected to. I’m pretty sure that makes up for lacking in the other categories. I ran my first MARATHON in 2010, that is what made it great!

Running wise in 2011, I am going to focus on completing the 9 +1 program, which will guarantee my entry into the 2012 ING NYC Marathon. I also hope to run a couple of Half Marathons during the year, but most likely there will be no marathon for me in 2011, I have too many other things that need my attention and focus.

I plan to start racing again February. I have been a total slacker in the running department in the last month and I plan to turn this around slowly starting this weekend. I plan to go on my very first run (that was not a race) since the marathon, on Saturday. I told you I was a slacker.

I want to figure out what I want do with my life. I’m a little lost career wise and that’s what I want this year to be about. I’m ready to focus, to work hard and to figure out exactly what makes me happy.

GOALS FOR 2011

  • Complete the NYRR 9 +1 guaranteed entry program – Run 9 NYRR races and volunteer for 1 for guaranteed entry into the following years ING NYC Marathon
  • PR in a 10K Race
  • Get into shape for the WEDDING!
  • Blog more and increase readership
  • Increase readership on ireallylikefood.com
  • Volunteer
  • Save Money
  • Look for more side jobs

To sum it up; in 2011, I want to work my ass off, get into amazing shape and have the best day of my life at my wedding!
